An Oregon Department of Transportation work crew is performing maintenance on the bridge. In addition to ODOT crews continuing to repair and install corrosion protection to the bridge, the western bridge sidewalk read here handrail is being replaced. The sidewalk is closed during construction, which is expected to last several weeks, weather permitting. Southbound traffic on Highway 101 is being diverted through the work area, and the lane will reopen should traffic congestion create the need. Pedestrians are safely being routed through the work area. According to ODOT, the project, which began in September 2018, involves hydroblasting to remove the handrail and applying a zinc coating via spray for cathodic protection.
